Participation is less than usual: Some attendees may be intimidated by the remote meeting initially, because they’re not used to interacting via online communications. This could lead to an inability to participate in the meeting. This can slow down the progress of the board and cause the agenda to be slowed down.
It can also be difficult to read facial expressions and body language when you are in a virtual discussion which can result in confusions. Lack of eye contact may also cause some directors to feel less at ease and apathetic listeners. This is not a good thing for the boardroom.

It’s also a good idea to ensure that the room is tidy and free of distractions. The chair should be able to monitor all attendees and advise attendees to only use their microphones when needed.
